Where To Find Free Marriage Counseling

A troubled marriage makes for a trouble person – two troubled persons. And while many troubled marriages fail and end in the divorce court, there are many examples of a troubled marriage which recovers and goes on from strength to strength.

One of the best ways to help a troubled marriage is by visiting a trained counselor. There are many available and finding one which suits and is a good match may not be too difficult. But if you are struggling financially then finding free counseling may be difficult. But it is possible and here are two immediate sources.

• Local charities which provide emergency shelter, food and clothing will sometimes have a counseling service as well.
• Local churches likewise will often offer counseling services for couples in trouble.

Now there are issues with both of these sources. As far as the churches go, they may offer this service only to their members so if you are not a worshipper at a particular church, you may be excluded. Note that you could attend a small church but its headquarters would be the place to attend the counseling.

With the local charities the issue here with their free marriage counseling is availability. Unfortunately there is a big demand for the services of a free counselor and you may have a while to wait. That could mean disaster because your troubled marriage could end by the time your turn came round to see a counselor.

But by all means enter your name on the waiting-list. It might take weeks before you get an appointment but you’ll never get in until your name is on the list. If while waiting for an appointment, your marriage improves or fails completely, you need simply to notify the charity.

Another fact you need to consider is that counseling is rarely able to magically and instantly repair your troubled relationship. Often the counseling takes place over many sessions and can be a tough time for all. So by all means try and save your marriage and have expectations for a positive result but understand that there is often no quick-fix solution.

While you are waiting for a counseling session, you should continue looking for help. It is the proactive couple which has the best chance of saving their marriage. Look for sources of help by contacting online forums appropriate to marital support. Ask state and c

The secret is to obviously find that affordable counselor but that is not the only significant issue. You should also keep going until practical help arrives. It’s a good idea to have a trusted person you can contact when times are tough if only just to talk things through. You never know but the counseling solution could happen tomorrow and from someone quite close to your home so keep trying and hoping to save your marriage.
